SUMMER SADNESS - TIPS FOR SUMMER

Hey all...,

Summer has arrived!!! It's time to take out the sun protection creams at least with SPF 30 or above. I have put together it's few tips for a healthy summer.

1. Drink plenty of water:

During the hot summer months, heat and sweat can leave your body dehydrated.

  • Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day.
  • Bored of water ? Then opt for healthy alternatives like green tea or coconut water.

2. Always apply sunscreen :

  • You skin can be exposed to sun before 10AM and after 4PM.
  • In order to protect from harmful UV rays apply sunscreen after every 3 hours.
  • There are creams with matte finish available in the market.

3. Exfoliate :

Summer means an increase of dead skin cells so it is important to exfoliate your skin to keep it smooth and silky. You don’t need to buy any expensive products to achieve that summer glow; simply use a loafer for a light scrub or make your own exfoliation lotion using a handful of oatmeal, milk and yogurt.

4. Anti tan :

Always prevention is better than cure. If you are already tanned, go for a anti tan pack(Shahnaz and VLCC worked good on me).
To remove the tan at home , rub fresh tomatoes or potato juice on your face.

5. Be Good to Your Eyes :

To protect your vision at work and at play, wear protective eye wear. When outdoors, wear sunglasses that block at least 99% of ultraviolet A and B rays. Sunglasses can help prevent cataracts, as well as wrinkles around the eyes.

6. Sleep Well :

Ahh!! My favourite thing :)

  • Sleep for at least 8 hours a day.
  • Cut out alcohol, sugar and caffeine after lunch for a week and sleep should come easier.

7. Rethink your snacks:

Try some fun and refreshing summer snacks that the entire family can enjoy:
  • Fruit pops: Homemade freezer pops are an easy, fun treat for kids to make. Mash up fruit like peaches, grapes, berries or watermelon and put them in paper cups, insert a Popsicle stick, freeze overnight and enjoy!
  • Cool and crisp: keep a variety of colourful veggies on hand that stay cool and crunchy for   a refreshing treat – baby carrots, cucumber slices, and celery sticks are just a few ideas.
  • Fruit smoothies: blend your favourite fresh fruits with fat-free or low-fat yogurt and ice for a refreshing drink or freeze and eat with a spoon like a frozen ice chill.
  • Mix it up: make your own trail mix using your favourite unsalted or lightly salted nuts, seeds and unsweetened dried fruits (just be sure to keep your servings to 1.5 ounces or 1/3 cup).
  • Just slice and serve: summer months are peak season for most fruits, just slice and serve – the whole family will enjoy the refreshing natural sweetness and juices just the way nature made ‘em!

8. Dress for the heat :

Wear lightweight, light coloured clothing, choose light, breathable fabrics such as cotton.
